3rd global congress poster
March 15-18, 2027 Radisson Blu Hotel in Lusaka, Zambia. Organized by African Genetic Biocontrol Consortium

Theme: "Advancements in Engineered Modification Strategies for Vector Control”.

The African Genetic Biocontrol Consortium is delighted to announce the 3rd Global Congress on New and Emerging Genetic Biocontrol Technologies to take place in Lusaka Zambia in March 15-18, 2027. The aim of the Congress is to bring together experts from around the world to share learnings across diverse disciplines related to genetic biocontrol technologies in a six-day hybrid event at the Radisson Blu Hotel.

ABOUT THE CONGRESS

The Congress is characterized by

  • Two full days of intensive Pre-Conference Workshops/Symposia/Courses
  • Two full days of the state-of-the-art keynotes, papers, and panel discussions
  • Poster sessions and exhibits on genetic biocontrol products and services.
  • Invaluable networking

Topics for consideration

The following topics applicable to genetic biocontrol agents and or products are used as guide to develop proposals for Pre-Conference Courses/Workshops/Symposia as well as Abstracts for presentations during the Conference:

  • Gene Drives:Advancements in research, associated challenges, approaches to risk assessment, and regulatory considerations pertinent to gene drives and their applications.
  • Non-Genetic Studies:Classical biocontrol,  vector control interventions, endosymbiont approaches like Wolbachia.
  • Science Communication:Stakeholder involvement, debunking misinformation and disinformation, building social acceptance, influencing public perspectives, improving science outreach, and supporting a scientific framework for understanding genetic biocontrol.
  • Capacity building:Progress, challenges, and opportunities in developing knowledge and skills for emerging technologies and vector control.
  • Risk Analysis:Risk analysis, risk assessment, risk communication, and risk management for genetic biocontrol.  Examples include hazard assessment, exposure assessment, problem formulation, data transportability, etc.
  • Global regulations and governance:Examining international regulatory, policy, and governance frameworks for genetic biocontrol and vector control.
  • Biorisk Management:Biosafety, biosecurity, and biocontainment issues related to contained use and field trials of genetic biocontrol products.
  • Animal Biotechnology: Scientific advancements, challenges, risk assessment, and regulatory considerations related to animal biotechnology, including gene edited animals, genetically modified animals, etc.
  • Other topics related to emerging biotechnologies and innovation: Other topics highlighting One Health approaches, scientific advancements, modeling, Quality Management and Accreditation Standards, risk assessment, or regulatory considerations, synthetic biology, genetics-based health biotechnology, the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in sustainable innovations, post-release monitoring of genetic biocontrol products etc

Call for Abstracts : August 31, 2027

Submit your Abstract, Preconference courses/Workshop and Symposia to Congress@genebioconsortium.africa

Exhibits: This is an excellent opportunity to display and discuss your products and services to an international audience. Anyone who supplies, manufactures, provides services or products used in biomedical research, pest and disease control, food and feed products, biosafety and biosecurity should exhibit.

Sponsorship Packages: There are opportunities for sponsorship of the conference through Diamond, Platinum, Gold, and Silver-level packages. Each package includes exclusive sponsorship of a unique aspect of the event (e.g., a session focused on an important industry topic, an off-site program, a social networking reception, etc.). In addition, each sponsorship package delivers other great benefits, such as maximizing speaking opportunities, the promotion of your company brand and expertise internationally both in advance of the conference and at the event itself, offering complimentary delegate registrations, and much more.  Description of the packages may be obtained by contacting the Congress Secretariat genbio@genbiocosnortium.africa for more details on sponsorship opportunities.
